It is sad to find a dead bird beside the road. It reminds me of a time when I was driving and hit a cardinal. That's a story in itself. Maybe I should write about that today.

Yesterday when I was out walking, I saw a little cardinal that was dead and by the side of the road. The bird was so beautiful and it was sad to him it lying there in the street.

Thank you, Janice, for letting us know about Newswatch.

I don't have any sure answers. If you tried to put it back in the box it might encourage its sibling to fledge early as well. You might put it into a cage that would protect it from other animals. The parent birds could still feed it though the wires. Sorry I couldn't answer earlier, I was traveling all day today.

Another place for you to post your question is on the Cornell University's web site where they have a place for people to ask questions on a community bulletin board. The address is: http://watch.birds.cornell.edu/nest/community/forums/index

Hope this information isn't too late in coming.

What can we do with a baby that has fledged too soon. The parents are going crazy with this baby bluebird. I will send a picture of him if you can give us some advice.

I definitely think it's unfair that those who can most afford to pay taxes are also the ones who manage to find all the loopholes so they don't pay tax. It's crazy, and then everything rests on those who can afford it least, all because they don't have some fancy accountant to show them how to get around tax laws.

I planted 3 china girl holly bushes and 2 china boy holly bushes last fall. This spring they look a little brown and maybe this could be from the frost bite. I'm not sure. Do you have any suggestions to help these poor holly bushes.

I'm disappointed that I never saw the baby chickadees again. I peeked in the birdhouse yesterday evening after making enough noise to get the babies chirping and still not hearing anything. The nest was empty. I have no idea if the birds hatched normally and fledged or if a snake might have gotten them. Wish I had seen them flying around. I hope everything turned out OK for them.
